We're looking for people to lead groups of all ages and backgrounds through an interesting tour of the gallery. Your orientation will include comprehensive information on the exhibits and suggested readings. From that you will share your knowledge and relevant personal experiences with your audience. Tours generally occur weekdays or Thursday evenings.
People who fill this volunteer position help ensure the security of the gallery and its contents. Gallery attendants receive orientation on the exhibitions and are expected to continue their training by reading exhibition labels and other provided materials. Gallery attendants monitor activity in the galleries and are needed during all open hours.
Do you enjoy cutting, gluing, painting and working with students? We need your help to prepare art projects, support participants and instructors as they work on their creations and then help with cleanup. Art programs take place morning, afternoon and evening throughout the week.
Volunteers in the archives respond to research requests, look up and index information or transcribe interviews. This volunteer position requires a strong attention to detail and an interest in learning about the history of our community.
Do you enjoy meeting the public? Do you have a pleasant telephone manner? Are you eager to share your enthusiasm about The Reach with others? If you answered "Yes!" then please consider volunteering to support our front-of-house. We are looking for friendly people to greet the public, whether they have walked in the door or have called with an enquiry. We provide orientation in telephone answering and record keeping, as well as ongoing training that includes updates on programs and events at The Reach. Computer skills are an asset.
Special events support
The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford hosts a number of special events throughout the year, from exhibition opening receptions and cultural celebrations to a major fundraising event. Events are generally held on Thursday evenings or weekends. Volunteers are needed to help with the planning and implementation of these events. During special events, we need help with setup, hosting, food service, technical support, photography and cleanup.
