Submissions

The curatorial program at The Reach Gallery Museum is carefully considered to bring the best in visual arts and historical research to our audience. Exhibition programming is primarily invitational. Exhibitions presented at The Reach are confirmed 18 to 24 months in advance and are generally developed by the Curator of Art & Visual Culture, Curator of Historical Collections, Guest Curators and Curatorial Interns (where appropriate).

The Reach welcomes informational packages from artists. Submissions of this nature are for the sole purpose of informing us about your work. These packages should not take the format of an exhibition proposal. Proposals for specific projects and/or exhibitions will only be accepted from galleries, museums, artist collectives, artist run centers, and independent curators.

To let us know more about your practice, artists are encouraged to share:

• A professional CV
• Artist Statement
• A selection of 10 – 20 images which best represent your practice (in .jpg format).

Images should be numbered and accompanied by a separate document that lists the title, year of production, medium, dimensions for each work as well as any other information that will assist in our appreciation and understanding of the work. Please provide web links (and passwords if necessary) for time-based work.

Only electronic packages will be accepted. Send to: ktialiou@thereach.ca Hard copy applications will not be considered and materials will not be returned. The Reach does not have a formal deadline for submissions though they will be reviewed periodically. Only those with submissions under consideration will be contacted.

Call for Artists and Makers from the South Asian Communities in the Fraser Valley

Between October 2023 and May 2024, The Reach Gallery Museum will present the exhibition Des Pardes, a significant exhibition aimed at celebrating and disseminating the history, culture, and contemporary character of the diverse South Asian community in Abbotsford, BC. In conjunction with the community history portion of the exhibition, which will feature a rich selection of archival photographs and objects of material culture, as well as original short documentaries and excerpts of recorded interviews, The Reach invites submissions by artists and makers from the South Asian communities in the Fraser Valley that fall into the following two categories:

Contemporary Art: Established or emerging practicing visual artists.

Collective Making: Individuals who practice a form of cultural making that is in, or can be adapted to, a participatory format.
