The Reach teams up with regional musicians to host a classical spring concert!

The Reach and the Vancouver Seraph Ensemble are teaming up to host a classical spring concert on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 1:30 pm at The Reach, 32388 Veterans Way.

Talented musicians: Susan Choi, piano, Eunsun Park, oboe, Euna Ji, violin, Joonhee Park, viola and Jinkyung Oh, cello, will present the beautiful works of Mozart, Britten, and Poulenc. This rich musical program features: Piano Quartet in G Minor K 478 – W.A. Mozart, Allegro – Andante – Rondo, Phantasy Quartet Op. 2 – B. Britten, and Trio for Piano, Oboe and Cello – F. Poulenc.

The Seraph Ensemble was founded by four Korean female musicians in Vancouver in 2014: Ji, Oh and the two Park’s. They’re all graduates of the College of Music at Yonsei University, one of Korea’s three leading universities and considered the nation’s most prestigious. Their friendship and love of music brought them together to perform at various venues in Greater Vancouver, and host biannual benefit concerts. Their hard work and musical passion resulted in being able to feature many repertoires ranging from Baroque to 20th Century.

 

Eunsun Park came from a very musical family and has taught manystudents at her alma mater. She was a principal oboist in Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra for 20 years and currently, is a principal oboist in the West Coast Symphony. Euna Ji played violin in the Korean Symphony Orchestra for 20 consecutive seasons, performing in Europe and Asia, and is currently a member of the West Coast Symphony. Joonhee Park made her debut concert with the Koryo Symphony Orchestra, joined the Asian Youth Orchestra touring five Asian countries, and played in the Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra. Cellist Jinkyung Oh triumphantly won Ewah and Yukyoung, two major music competitions in Korea. Oh appeared as a soloist with Seoul Sinfonietta and Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra and played as an associate principal cello player in the Korean Symphony Orchestra. They will be joined by Susan Choi, a highly versatile pianist who performs extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, and piano teacher. She holds a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Art in piano performance. As an active pianist, she appeared in major performance halls in Korea, has performed with the Abbotsford Symphony Orchestra, played with the Vancouver Pilgrim Orchestra, and at many local venues. Choi is also a founding member of the Vancouver Chamber Music Society.
