Each of the works in No Effect are social commentaries on different aspects of our lives and how we interact with our environment, our jobs, our pastimes and ourselves.

Through bold colours, strong line work and with a surreal approach, Sands takes ordinary people, animals or objects and juxtapose them, creating new stories that explore our effects on the world around us. By stylizing the subject matter, he is able to lend the same importance to an inanimate object as to a human being and play with how one affects the other.

With subject matter ranging from fatherhood to war, from videogames to the consumption of natural resources, his ideas are presented in a vibrant, playful manner in hopes of inviting you, the viewer, to take a deeper look into the more serious messages lurking just below the paint’s surface.
