Brendan Fernandes is a Canadian artist of Kenyan and Indian descent, currently based in Brooklyn, NY. His work frequently deals with notions of identity and authenticity.
In his recent practice he has returned to his roots as a dancer to explore the various meanings that the body encapsulates. Fernandes has exhibited extensively at some of the most prestigious galleries in North America including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Brooklyn Museum, The National Gallery of Canada, Seattle Art Museum, and most recently at the Fowler Museum at UCLA.
