Abbotsford, BC – Spring is in the air, flowers are budding, and Tanglebank Gardens and The Reach are getting inspired! Together, they have invited a selection of talented local artists to participate in a Hanging Basket Makers event in support of The Reach. On Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 10 am, the artists will gather under the timbers at Tanglebank, 29985 Downes Rd. Abbotsford, to create one-of-a-kind living works of art.

“We are really excited to be working with Tanglebank Gardens and a terrific group of regional artists to launch this fundraising initiative for The Reach,” says Laura Schneider, Executive Director of The Reach. “The artists will be using living materials provided by Tanglebank Gardens to create flowering moss hanging baskets and it will be fun to see what they do with
these unconventional materials. I’m sure they will interpret challenge in some really interesting ways.”

The list of artists includes Cynthia Frenette, Davida Kidd, Sharon Huget, Barbara Pearson, and Bob St. Cyr. The completed baskets will be on display for two weeks, and during this time the public will have the chance to vote on their favourite basket and to bid on them in a silent auction. The proceeds of the silent auction will go to The Reach. Additionally, $5 from
any hanging basket sold at Tanglebank during this season will also be generously donated to The Reach.

The public are invited to watch the artists at work on May 4 at 10am, or to visit Tanglebank Gardens any time between May 4-18 to check out their creations, make a bid in the silent auction, and vote on a “People’s Choice” basket. This unique, creative event supports the delivery of public programs and events for audiences of all ages at The Reach Gallery Museum.
