ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia- The Reach Gallery Museum is proud to launch a new online resource to keep audiences connected through cultural activities in this time of self-isolation.

While the doors of The Reach have been temporarily closed to the public in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, staff have developed a way to share a wide range of virtual experiences with the public. The new resource, which can be accessed online at thereach.ca/athome, launched today and has already attracted significant interest.

“At a time when many of us are passing our days within our own four-walls, we wanted to create a resource that would be entertaining, educational, and useful both within our community and for audiences further afield,” says Laura Schneider, Executive Director of The Reach. “There are so many examples around the world right now of how culture is connecting us and giving us a sense of hope and solidarity. We just really want to focus that at the local level to remind us of the value that history, art, and culture bring to our lives every day here in the Fraser Valley.”

Art lovers will have the chance to “tour” and learn about current exhibitions from curatorial staff. Local history buffs can spend endless hours exploring online collections of archival photographs. Guided art and history learning activities will support educators, parents, and students during the final months of the school year. Best of all, The Reach invites everyone who uses the resource to circulate what they make and learn through a series of online sharing opportunities.

The Reach @ Home will continue to populate the online resource with new content each week. New content will be available on the website thereach.ca/athome and will be featured regularly through The Reach’s social media channels
